I am up to page 246. Amir is married and in Afghanistan, looking for Hassan's son. I really do like every part of this book. Its not challenging on a technical level, but it's written so well.
I remain finished with the novel. I'm still impressed with it.
I finished my book. The book was about a boy, Amir and his half brother Hassan growing up in Pakistan. It also is about Amir dealing with the shame of not helping his half brother Hassan when they were children. I really liked this book, it was so good, and really held my attention, which is hard. I thought the part when Amir goes back to Pakistan as an adult was really interesting, and messed up, and all of the things that happened there were really interesting.
I am on page 411.
Every single sub-story of this book is absolutely incredible.
I just don't like that it's so incredibly sad because its true.
I can not wait to finsih.
I am up to page 178.
So far in the book there are 3 different stories going on. Jonathan has found the girl Augustine that was in his photo but they are confused about how she relates to him. Also we learned that brod got married after Yankel died and her husband had a knife in his head and went crazy. I really like how the book moves back and forth, but I wish that I could know how all these different parts connect.
I'm on page 242
I think I'm liking the story itself a bit more.
Even though the book isn't challenging I'm not inclined to read because I don't think it's that interesting.
I am up to 214. Amir is seeing Rahim Kham and is learning of Hassan's life. I do find all the book interesting and I always enjoy reading it especially how the relationship between Baba and Amir developed.
I'm up to page 180, just before the chapter "What we saw when we saw Trachimbrod, or falling in love." I found the exposition of this book so confusing to follow. As it progressed, though, it became so detailed, so I couldn't put it down, regardless of if I could understand it or not. Right now, Alex, Sammy Davis Jr. Jr, and Grandfather brought "the hero" (aka Jonathan Safran Foer" to Trachimbrod.
I finished the book last night! In the book, the narrator has decided to dwell in the world created in his mind and free the mind of the Librarian in the End of the World. By giving up living in the “real” world, he is sacrificing his humanity for eternity. The parts of the book that I liked the most were when the narrator was with the Librarian in Japan, because that is when he truly seemed happy.
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
I am up to about page 205. I just finished reading a section that was told by Yunior, an ex-boyfriend of Lola's. Yunior roomed with Oscar in college and tried to help him become a more desirable guy, but Oscar did not want to work hard enough to change. In this book, I like the parts about Oscar and Lola because they are very interesting, but I didn't like the huge long section about Beli (their mom). I just didn't find it as interesting and funny. I am wondering how (and if) the stories of Oscar, Lola, and Beli are all going to tie together in the end, because now everything seems very separate and choppy.
Sam- 217
Hailey- 224
Once i got to the middle of the book(pg 180)my brain exploded and i understood the book and the 360 circle concept. so far Hailey and Sam just quit their jobs at the St. Louis Cafe and they have 4 1/2 jars of honey left. they are now on the road... just like they were before their employment. this book is so disturbing with it's intimate details but it is still so good that i cant put it down. i love this book and the way it is set up but it is so difficult to read and understand.
I am on page 288.
Achor Achor finally came home to relieve Valentino from being tied up on the floor. They go to the hospital. Valentino continues continues to tell the story of his travels across Sudan to go to Ethiopia. When him and all the other lost boys finally reach Ethiopia it was not what he expected. William K dies and Valentino is greatly impacted by this. But he reunites with Moses.
I love this book and still can't seem to put it down. Egger's retelling Valentino's story really throws me into another world when im ready it that makes me enjoy the book so much.
I am on page 264.
Achak is waiting in the hospital for treatment after Achor Achor finally came home.
He is telling his story to Julian, the guy at the emergengy room desk. In his story, the boys have made it to Ethiopia and are settling at the Pinyudo camp with all of the other refugees. Achak has found an old woman in the village next to the camp who takes care of him and feeds him, and now he is in better shape than the most of the other boys. William K died =[
[they just ruined the book for me, its okay though.]
I love this book - I love the way it is written. I think Achak's story is amazing and I want to get to the end to see what happens!
I am up to 184. A man came into the narrator's house and they are discussing the information the professor is working on. They also talked about "the system".
I part of the book I really liked was the description starting on chapter 14. The first sentence "In due time, autumn too vanishes", reminded me of Murakami's other book The Elephant Vanishes. Murakami continues to describe nature using beautiful language. The whole passage flowed so nicely.
I finished the book the kite runner. I loved the book even though at times it was extremely sad. I enjoyed learning about another culture in a way I’ve never seen it portrayed before. The relationships between Amir his dad Hassan Hassan’s son and his wife are deep and complex and add reliability to the book. I had trouble putting down this book down. The Kite Runner followed Hassan through an adventure of redemption as he travels back to Afghanistan to try to save Hassan’s son from abuse. This trip reunites him with his childhood enemy Assef and they have a fight for life and custody of Hassan’s child. Amir wins and after a lot of drama with Hassan’s son’s suicide attempt Amir takes him back to live with him and his wife.
I am up to page 164, right after they have finally reached Trachimbrod on their quest to find Augustine. At first the book was somewhat confusing to follow, and I wasn't exactly sure whose point of view I was reading. As the book has gone on, the witty dialogue and broken english have captivated my attention and the plot has gotten clearer. I am enjoying it thoroughly.
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.
page 217
So much has happend. The reader finds out why our friend Oscar got the name "Oscar Wao". There has been so many sad parts, however, the story is told through an unempathetic voice. I love learning about the history of the Dominican Republic, and the subtle yet, chiding tone of the speaker.
I've loved the book, so far. I could have done with out the ridiculously long chapter about Beli, but I understand it was needed.
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao:
I am up to page 270. Oscar graduated and began as substitute teacher at the high school he went to. But that position later turned into a permanent position. I don’t really have any dislikes about this book. I actually enjoy reading this novel.
